Consultant Paediatrician with a special interest in Allergy

This is a 9‑person auxiliary (PA) post for Consultant paediatrician with a special interest in Paediatric Allergy. The candidate will be required to provide a comprehensive service covering all aspects of the specialty and will be expected to collaborate with the lead clinician in the management and development of the paediatric service. Previous experience in hospital management would be a benefit. The post only provides general paediatric cover. There is an entirely separate neonatal service on site at all levels.
The post will be based across two sites: Northwick Park Hospital and Ealing Hospital. However, it is a requirement of your employment that you be prepared to work at any additional or different location owned or served by the Trust, either on an ongoing or temporary basis according to the demands of the service.
Main duties of the job
Clinical duties will be included in the DCC on a pro‑rota basis and will be discussed and agreed during the Job Planning meeting.
- Ward attending – Week and weekends
- Paediatric allergy clinics
- Paediatric Assessment Unit attending – 08:00‑16:00
- On calls covering the ward, PAU and A&E.
- Consultant/Specialty doctor of the week cover for acute Paediatrics at Northwick Park Hospital 08:00‑18:00 hrs, shared with colleagues on an approximate 1 in 9 basis, Monday to Friday.
- On‑call duties for Paediatrics shared with colleagues Monday to Friday, 17:30 hours until 08:00 hours off‑site cover.
- General paediatrics clinics and allergy clinics
- Participation in the NWL (regional) Allergy MDT.
Qualifications
- MRCPCH by examination or equivalent.
- On the GMC’s Specialist Register or within six months of CCT/CESR at time of scheduled interview.
Clinical Experience
- Ability to demonstrate having achieved the competencies equivalent to the Highest Specialist Paediatric Training.
- Valid BLS Training.
- Experience working in NHS.
- Wider experience, research, and training, in providing subspecialty service (if applicable).
