Director of Quality, Practice & Learning – About the Role
We are recruiting an experienced, innovative, collaborative and solutions‑focused Director of Quality, Practice & Learning. The successful postholder will work as part of our Leadership Team, contributing to SCMA’s overall policy development, strategic planning, budget preparation and control. The role leads on quality, learning and practice development, consolidating, overseeing and developing our quality function and activities provided to our membership and to the wider childminding workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Consolidate, oversee and develop the quality function and its activities that support membership and the childminding workforce.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Continuing Professional Learning (CPL) strategy, linked to the delivery of the wider organisational strategy.
- Support policy development and strategic planning within the organisation.
- Work collaboratively across the Leadership Team and with external partners, including local authorities and government agencies.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Significant experience and understanding of quality improvement, practice development and professional learning within an early learning/childcare environment.
- Demonstrable track record in innovation and establishing partnerships, including securing funding.
- Experience of working in partnership with local authorities.
- Drive and enthusiasm to support the next stage of our strategic journey.
Employment Details
Part‑time (up to 22 hours per week), annual salary £58,117 – 62,252 pro rata (potential progression to £63,728 – 68,394 pro rata). Permanent position, with a possible interim/secondment/acting‑up opportunity until 31 March 2027. Home/head office based in Stirling – regular attendance at the Head Office, with some travel required.
