Job Description:

NESFircroft has partnered with an industry‑leading Power Cabling client, requiring CVs for the role of Site Manager on a project based in Suffolk.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the delegated budget from the Project Manager and ensuring the delivery of the installation scope as part of the customer project.
  • Responsible for installation risks and promote transparency, reaching agreement with the Project Manager to manage risks within the business.
  • Responsible for overseeing initial survey works and documentation creation (CDM, RAMS, etc.).
  • Responsible for all work within the installation part of the project—startup, planning, preparation, execution, and closure—including engineering and testing.
  • Ensure installation operations comply with applicable laws, regulations and HSE procedures.
  • Specify all required subcontractors for the installation, ensuring quality and HSE requirements are met.
  • Ensure installation is carried out qualitatively and quantitatively in the best possible way, considering required time, resources and cost frames.
  • Monitor changes and additional work for the installation part in accordance with the customer contract.
  • Handle changes, variation orders and claims from subcontractors and third parties.
  • Quantify changes and claims and report to the Project Manager or Department Manager, depending on the project type.
  • Issue and maintain the budget for the installation scope.
  • Create and maintain a time schedule for the installation scope.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

  • Minimum three years’ experience as Site Manager on construction projects of medium complexity, with demonstrated successes, failures and lessons learned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with HVDC Converter Stations is a plus.
  • Demonstrable understanding of terms and conditions typical of construction contracts.
  • Experience in civil works, installation and/or commissioning activities.
  • Recognised health, environment and safety certifications and training.
  • Driven, structured and goal‑oriented, able to work under stress and lead teams, with a proven ability to adapt and gain trust from employees and peers.
  • Able to adapt communication style for blue‑collar workers, senior management and customers.
  • National Grid experience is advantageous.
