Lead Software Engineer

We are looking for a Lead Engineer to design, develop, and maintain critical infrastructure that powers Northrop Grumman UK services. The role requires a self‑driven, organized engineer with a passion for elegant, stable solutions and a strong leadership mentality.

Key Details

• Citizenship: UK required
• Relocation assistance: Available
• Travel: Yes, up to 10% of the time
• Salary: £55,700 – £83,500
• Security clearance: Highest level of UK Government clearance required

Responsibilities

• Own team deliverables and work with the Scrum Master to define a path that meets customer requirements.
• Participate in the entire software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
• Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, including product, front‑end development, and QA.
• Mentor and guide junior developers to support the team’s growth.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Software Developer focused on either backend Java (Spring Boot, Maven) or frontend JavaScript (React, NPM) technologies.
• Proven experience designing, developing, and deploying scalable backend systems.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, containerisation, deployment technologies, and cloud platforms such as Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills; prior experience with agile ways of working is desirable.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the highest level of UK Government clearance.
