Opportunity

Quality Engineering Manager – Coatbridge, Lanarkshire • Aerospace, Defence & Space • Permanent • Senior Leadership Role. Lead quality in a business where engineering integrity is everything. We are partnering with a highly advanced aerospace and defence manufacturing organisation to appoint a Quality Engineering Manager to lead its quality function across complex, mission‑critical products and manufacturing operations. This is a senior leadership opportunity within a technically demanding environment where precision, compliance, and reliability are fundamental to success. The business operates at the forefront of aerospace, defence, and space technology, delivering highly engineered products used in critical applications where failure is simply not an option. This role offers the opportunity to shape quality strategy, influence operational performance, and drive continuous improvement across a growing engineering organisation.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading and developing a high‑performing Quality Engineering team
  • Owning and continuously improving the AS9100 / ISO9001 Quality Management System
  • Driving a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across the business
  • Leading internal, supplier, customer, and certification audits
  • Managing non‑conformance activities, root cause investigations, and corrective actions
  • Supporting First Article Inspection (FAI), product surveillance, and product acceptance activities
  • Driving improvements in manufacturing quality, process capability, and operational performance
  • Supporting engineering change management and configuration control activitiesWorking closely with customers and suppliers to resolve quality‑related issues
  • Analysing quality KPIs and implementing improvement strategies
  • Applying advanced quality methodologies, including PFMEA / PFMECA, 8D, Six Sigma, MSA, and risk‑management techniques

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Science, or related discipline
  • Significant experience in Quality Engineering leadership roles
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9100 / ISO9001 Quality Systems
  • Experience leading audits, compliance activities, and customer quality engagements
  • Strong understanding of root cause analysis, risk management, configuration control, engineering change management, and manufacturing quality systems
  • Experience developing and leading Quality Engineering teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Desirable: Lead Auditor qualification
  • Desirable: Six Sigma certification
  • Desirable: Experience within aerospace, defence, or space manufacturing
  • Desirable: Knowledge of electro‑mechanical, battery, or complex engineered products
