The role is primarily based on the delivery of CDM Services and the Principal Designer role, although experience delivering additional associated Health & Safety services could be an advantage.

Based in either our Manchester or Liverpool office you will cover a range of sectors including retail, residential, commercial, manufacturing, infrastructure, public and education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Principal Designer/CDM Services on both independent commissions and to complement our wider project delivery services.
  • Produce pre‑construction information, H&S files and other associated CDM documents.
  • Ensure designer compliance.
  • Review contractors’ documentation including tenders and construction phase plans.
  • Interface with clients and design teams on a project basis.
  • Conduct site H&S inspections/audits.
  • Advise clients on procurement options and consultant appointment issues.
  • Be proactive in business development of the Services within the region.
  • Keep updated with current legal developments in respect of construction and associated law.
  • Manage client accounts.

Technical Qualifications

  • Chartered/Professional Qualification in Design or Construction.
  • NEBOSH qualified (minimum Construction Certificate).
  • Preferable Member of APS/IOSH/CIOB/CABE/RIBA.
  • Good IT skills and working knowledge of MS 365: Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the component parts of CDM 2015 and other Health & Safety legislation.
  • Working knowledge of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
  • H+S training capability will be an advantage.

  • Strong communication skills – experience of communicating with people at differing levels effectively through oral and written communication.
  • Client‑facing skills – experience of working with clients at a strategic/operational level and managing relationships effectively.
  • Strong planning and organising skills – able to prioritise workload and deadlines and manage change effectively.
  • Effective problem resolution skills – solution‑oriented with the ability to manage problems and complaints assertively.
  • Teamwork skills – ability to work with others to achieve team and personal targets or objectives.
  • Current driving licence.
  • Willingness to support projects across several sectors which may include some travelling and out‑of‑hours work.
