A major UK logistics operation is seeking an experienced and ambitious Assistant General Manager to support the delivery of a large-scale, fast-paced warehousing contract across two nearby sites in Cambridgeshire.
This is a high-profile operational leadership role within a complex ambient food environment, offering the opportunity to make a significant impact within a business undergoing substantial operational transformation and growth.
The Opportunity
Reporting into the Regional General Manager, you will play a critical role in driving operational performance, leading change initiatives, and helping build a high-performing management culture across two warehouse operations.
The wider operation handles significant annual throughput and is heavily focused on data-led decision making, automation projects, systems implementation, and continuous improvement.
This role is ideal for a hands-on operational leader who can hit the ground running, bring structure and presence to a developing team, and help reduce the day-to-day operational burden on the senior leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the leadership and performance of two warehouse sites operating under the same customer contract
- Drive operational excellence across a multi-user, case-pick, consolidation-focused environment
- Lead and motivate operational teams through a significant programme of change management
- Embed a culture of accountability, performance measurement, and data-driven decision making
- Support ongoing automation initiatives and technology adoption across the operation
- Work closely with senior leadership to improve efficiency, service delivery, and operational stability
- Help build and develop a newly formed management structure and team culture
- Contribute to systems and process improvements including WMS and AI-driven platform implementation
About You
We are looking for an individual with strong operational presence, leadership maturity, and the ability to influence and inspire teams within a demanding logistics environment.
- Proven leadership experience within logistics, warehousing, or supply chain operations
- Strong change management capability
- Excellent people leadership and motivational skills
- A data-driven mindset with strong systems and computer literacy
- Experience working with SAP and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
- Exposure to automation projects or operational technology implementation
- The ability to operate effectively within a fast-moving, high-pressure environment
- A long-term mindset and desire to grow within the business over the next 10-15 years
