Buildings & Estates Compliance Officer

Location: Shropshire – Across SCEAT Schools (multi-site role) Main base: BridgnorthSalary: NJC Grade 6, £26,824- £28,142 per annum (pro rata), depending on experienceHours: Up to 32 hours per week, Monday-Friday (Term Time + 3 weeks)Flexible working arrangements, including part-time hours or alternative contractual arrangements, will be considered for the right candidate.

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and highly organised Buildings & Estates Compliance Officer to join our Trust in this newly created and vital role.

Working across our schools, you will play a key role in ensuring that all statutory compliance requirements relating to estates, health and safety are met. This is a hands‑on operational role combined with strategic oversight, providing both practical support in schools and assurance across the Trust.

You will work closely with the Director of Estates and Property, site teams, and external specialists to ensure our schools remain safe, compliant, and well‑maintained environments for pupils and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out and/or coordinate statutory compliance checks including fire safety, water hygiene, asbestos monitoring, and emergency lighting
  • Ensure all compliance activities are completed on time and accurately recorded
  • Monitor compliance across all Trust sites, identifying and addressing any gaps
  • Support schools to maintain high standards of health and safety
  • Work with contractors to ensure safe working practices
  • Contribute to estates planning, maintenance decisions, and value‑for‑money solutions
  • Maintain accurate, audit‑ready records and reports

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in estates, facilities, or site management
  • Has a good understanding of health and safety and building compliance requirements
  • Is practical, hands‑on, and solution‑focused
  • Can manage their time effectively across multiple sites
  • Is confident using IT systems (e.g. email, Microsoft Office) and willing to use compliance systems
  • Has strong communication skills and can build effective working relationships

Relevant health and safety qualifications (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH) are desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
