Job Description Summary
The Senior Contract Manager, reporting in solid line to the Grid Solutions Regional Contract Management Leader and in dotted line to the Project Director, and working closely with the Project Team, assumes overall responsibility for all contractual activities in the assigned Projects portfolio.
Main Duties
- Conduct thorough contract analysis and collaborate with the Project Director to develop the Project’s contract and commercial strategy.
- Present contractual analysis, commercial execution strategy, and deliverables such as the Contract Questionnaire and Contract Commercial Plan (CCP) to the Project Team.
- Implement contractual procedures covering claims, insurance, variation orders, correspondence, and notifications.
- Identify GE, customer/consortium, and third‑party contractual obligations; develop and implement the Project contract commercial plan, including a claim strategy.
- Provide proactive support for project risk and opportunity identification and analysis.
- Assume responsibility for all Project contractual activities from hand‑over from Sales through to final completion of contractual obligations and resolution of issues.
- Ensure notices comply with contract requirements.
- Manage claims to/from customers, subcontractors/suppliers, and partners, including negotiations and settlements.
- Handle Project variation requests/orders.
- Manage Project insurances: ensure compliant coverage, submit, monitor, and settle insurance claims in accordance with policy requirements.
- Provide guidance, support, and training to the Project team on general contractual issues as requested.
- Clarify contractual/legal enquiries and refer to Legal as necessary.
- Support the Sales team during the tender phase by drafting contract qualifications and participating in contract negotiations.
- Assist in dispute resolution conditions.
- Report on Project claims, variations, and critical contract issues to management, finance, audit, and project control staff.
- Report to management for approval of variation orders, amendments, and settlements under the applicable Delegation of Authority.
Experience and Knowledge
- Proven experience in claim preparation and negotiation (EOT claims, global claims, contract renegotiations, etc.) with strategy development.
- Knowledge of delay analysis principles (critical path analysis, concurrent delay principles, etc.).
- Understanding of contract law and project risk management.
- Technical understanding and experience in high‑level negotiations.
- Extensive hands‑on contract management experience in complex infrastructure projects (preferably power generation and transmission).
- Experience with NEC and FIDIC contract models.

- Capacity to prioritize work and interface with relevant stakeholders for information collection.

- University degree in engineering, quantity surveying, business administration or law.
- Accountability and a proactive mindset.
- Perfect knowledge of written and spoken English.
