Band 8b Operations and Clinical Integration Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the operational team within the directorate of Infection, Immunity, Rare Diseases and Outpatients based at the Royal Free Hospital. This role is fixed-term for 12 months only.
This role covers multiple specialties including Amyloidosis, Rheumatology, Haematology and Haemophilia amongst overs across multiple hospital sites within the Royal Free London group.
The post holder will support and lead the directorate operationally, working closely with the directorate triumvirate, ensuring the delivery of key targets within the budgeted resources available. They will contribute to strategic and annual business planning for their services, including the engagement of senior medical, nursing, AHP colleagues and other staff, as required. They will also coordinate the planning, development and implementation of service improvement, capital and other projects. They will support clinical governance processes within their areas and assist Clinical colleagues in the management of risk.
The post will deputise for the General Manager as and when required.
Main duties of the job
This post holder will be responsible for the operational management of all aspects of the directorate and across all sites in which the directorate runs services – Royal Free hospital, Chase Farm Hospital and Barnet Hospital mainly, with peripheral services being run from other local hospitals.
The post holder will work with senior clinical leaders and managers to drive and deliver excellent management leadership, support and capacity. They will ensure that effective management and delivery underpins the leadership of the directorate they manage and that the General Manager is supported to ensure that leadership decisions are translated into transforming delivery of services.
The Operations Manager will work in partnership with the General Manager to ensure the full engagement of all staff in the directorate in the delivery of the division’s strategy. The post holder will deputise for the General Manager when required.
The post holder will participate in the silver on-call rota for the Royal Free Hospital site.

Person Specification
Education and Professional Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
- Evidence of continuing personal development
- Project management or Quality Improvement training or qualification
- Relevant master’s qualification or significant experience as an operational or strategic manager in a relevant field
Experience
- Significant senior operational management experience, in the NHS or equivalent
- Staff management & leadership of a large MDT
- Leading and managing change within a complex environment
- Managing large and complex budgets
- Experience of successfully developing collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- Experience of leading clinical integration of a service
- Strategic planning and project management
- Experience of managing complex SLAs or specialist commissioned services
Skills and Knowledge
