Maternity Ward Security Officer

The successful candidate will have experience as a security officer and in face‑to‑face customer service, a flexible approach to work, and will be professional, punctual and reliable.
Enjoy fixed shifts of 10:00 – 20:00 on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in an acute area of the Maternity Unit.
Responsibilities
- Ensure and maintain safety of mothers and babies in the inpatient areas.
- Maintain an up to date record of all visitors to the maternity inpatient areas.
- Maintain all equipment and uniform supplied; wear full uniform at all times in line with protocol.
- Respond immediately to fire alert calls, following Trust fire procedures and ensuring escape routes and equipment remain clear and compliant with current fire legislation.
- Respond to ward or department staff calls regarding violent, abusive, disruptive patients or absconding, assess the situation and provide appropriate action.
- Courteously receive, assist and direct all visitors, reflecting positively on the Trust.
- Report security defects or omissions in the maternity unit in a timely and accurate manner.
- Promote security awareness throughout the Trust.
- Respond to intruder alarms, inspect for signs of break‑in, search for suspects and liaise with police.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
- Knowledge of restraint techniques.
- Physical Intervention Level 2.
- First Aid.
Experience
- Previous security‑related experience.
- Trained to SIA Standard.
- Basic knowledge of criminal law.
