About the Role
Senior Group Non‑Natural Catastrophe Analyst – London based, hybrid schedule (minimum 2 days in office per week). Part of the Group Exposure Management team reporting to the Group Chief Underwriting Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of non‑natural risk appetite measures and controls.
- Integrate new views, tools and measures into the exposure management infrastructure to keep systems accessible and up‑to‑date.
- Ensure the Hiscox View of Risk remains valid for the latest non‑natural perils developments.
- Fulfil non‑natural catastrophe regulatory obligations (PRA, BMA, Lloyd’s).
- Support junior team members with peril monitoring tasks.
- Monitor emerging non‑natural perils and assess their potential impact on Heiscox Group risk appetite.
- Develop appropriate management information to report against non‑natural related peril appetites and provide the business with the information needed for decision‑making.
Qualifications
- 3+ years experience in catastrophe modelling with a focus on major non‑natural perils (Marine, Aviation, Terrorism).
- Deep interest in the non‑natural threat landscape.
- Aptitude for technical coding (SQL, R, VBA – knowledge not required but desirable).
- Ability to explain complicated ideas clearly.
- Good written and report‑writing skills.
- Well‑organised and deadline‑focused.
- Nice to have: experience of capital modelling.
- Nice to have: knowledge of SQL Server coding.
