Apply for the Child Exploitation and Edge of Care Team Manager
Location: Slough
Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate leader to manage one of our Child Exploitation and Edge of Care teams. This service delivers a wraparound, relational approach to supporting vulnerable young people, focusing on child sexual and criminal exploitation, children missing from home or care, and those at risk of entering care. The aim is to reduce risks outside the home, address extra-familial harm, and support young people to remain safely within their families and communities.

In this pivotal role, you will lead, manage and coordinate a specialist team delivering high-quality, risk-led and evidence-informed interventions. You will work closely with Thames Valley Police, Social Care, Education and a wide range of partners to prevent and disrupt harm, ensuring a strong, collaborative multi-agency response. You will play a key role in shaping and embedding a new Edge of Care offer, ensuring alignment with the wider vision and principles of Slough Children First.

You will be responsible for overseeing safeguarding practice, managing risk, and ensuring timely allocation and progression of cases. A core part of your role will involve supervising and supporting staff, maintaining high professional standards, and promoting a positive and resilient team culture. You will also ensure staff have access to the training and development they need to respond to emerging risks and deliver impactful interventions.

As part of your leadership responsibilities, you will strengthen contextual safeguarding practice across Children’s Services, provide expert advice to professionals, and support effective multi-agency responses to exploitation, missing episodes and harm outside the home. You will chair multi-agency panels, oversee high-quality assessments and safety planning, and ensure the voices of children, young people and families shape service development.

You will also play a key role in performance management, quality assurance and continuous improvement. This includes analysing data, monitoring outcomes, producing reports for senior leaders, and ensuring robust processes are in place to deliver safe, effective and responsive services. By working in partnership and sharing intelligence effectively, you will contribute to identifying local needs and strengthening the collective response to safeguarding risks.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a dynamic and evolving service, make a real difference to the lives of young people, and influence the future of safeguarding practice across the borough.

We work on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of 3 days per week based in the office.
