Overview
The Senior Underwriter is accountable for ensuring the effective delivery of the vision and strategy within the Natural Resources business. The role focuses on leading the underwriting of specific client portfolios in line with the company’s business plan.
Responsibilities
Strategy
Ensure the effective delivery of client portfolio strategies and business plans, aligning with the strategy, client relationships and profitable growth.
Participate in and contribute to client segmentation and product forum activities to clarify the approach to specific clients and markets.
Lead the strategic direction of the portfolios and delivery of designated elements of the strategy and business plan.
Set the lead in demonstrating client intimacy behaviours and strategies within the location/market, across the region and with entities.
Work in partnership within the entity and other entities across the regions to leverage relationships and opportunities.
Underwriting
Generate and manage business on a client relationship basis within agreed portfolios, markets and entity.
Match tactical and strategic client intimacy initiatives within the location/market.
Ensure client relationships are maintained through efficient oversight of issues raised, including liaison to ensure effective resolution of complaints and claims.
Undertake market analysis to identify new business opportunities, products and clients, ensuring robust business cases.
Ensure risks are written within agreed parameters, making sound long‑term decisions that focus on smart underwriting rationale.
Underwriting Management
Provide effective oversight and input into underwriting performance, liaising with and ensuring regional compliance with underwriting management and taking corrective action as necessary.
Participate proactively in product forum meetings, challenging and responding to challenges regarding product performance.
Compliance and Risk Management
Act in accordance with the Company’s Business Ethics policy and all relevant regulated entities.
Ensure the location/market complies with relevant risk, regulatory and legal requirements and Group policies.
