We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and patient-focused Locum Prescribing clinical Pharmacist to join our well established team at Fordbridge Medical Centre in Surrey.
This is a full time temporary position based in surgery Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week.
Preferable is experience working in a GP setting. Knowledge of Emis Web and Docman 10, experience of long-term condition management clinics.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide expertise in clinical pharmacy and medicines optimisation as part of a multi‑disciplinary team providing care for patients from general practice, community sites including care homes and patients homes where required. You will be responsible for delivering care directly to patients, including those with single condition problems, long term conditions, respond to medicine related queries and medicine management on discharge/clinical letters.
You should be trained in Controlled drug management.
Ability to run the Prescribing Quality Scheme in the practice.

Job responsibilities
Day‑to‑Day work will include
- Structured Medications Reviews
- Assisting the Prescription team with queries
- Attending regular in‑house MDTs
- Working with the ICB Medications Management Team to ensure the local formulary is adhered to and understood in house
- Carrying out audits when required
- Helping deliver the targets laid out in the local Prescribing Quality Scheme
- Helping deliver the targets laid out in QOF and IIF
- Working with our care homes to ensure optimal prescribing
- Advising GPs and other clinical staff
Person Specification
- Registered with GPhC
- Evidence of recent CPD
- Independent prescriber status
- Effective interpersonal, communication (both oral and written) presentation and influencing skills
- Ability to communicate information to patients and carers in a clear and appropriate manner, using developed empathy skills
- Knowledge of medicines management issues across primary, acute and domiciliary care settings
- Understanding and appreciation of National and local policies which impinge on primary care prescribing
- Professional approach to work demonstrating excellent interactive patient skills. Guided by professional code, accountable and responsible for own professional actions
- Ability to gain the confidence and credibility of a range of professional
- Able to work under pressure and prioritise tasks to ensure urgent work is completed on time
- Experience of working with diabetes would be beneficial
- Experience in COPD, Spirometry and Asthma is preferable
- Experience of working in a GP practice
Qualifications
- Registered with GPhC and hold CPPE
- Must be able to prescribe
