Location: Oxford Vaccine Group, Churchill Hospital, Oxford
Salary: Grade E63: £36,616- £70,425 or Clinical Grade E64: £43,455 – £68,215 per annum
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team that has been working on the rapid clinical development of vaccines against COVID-19 and other important outbreak pathogens including Marburg and Ebola. The team are running pioneering studies on experimental controlled human challenge studies for bacterial and viral infections and phase I‑III studies of experimental vaccines to transform human health.
You will play an important role working on vaccine and vaccine‑related studies, including against COVID‑19 and other threats to human health, recently developed human models of typhoid and paratyphoid infection and pneumococcal, RSV and influenza challenge studies in a collaboration with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM).
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to a clinical rota, on‑call rota including some evening and weekend work.
- Lead and participate in vaccine development studies, including experimental human challenge studies.
- Generate high‑quality publications and pursue independent research funding opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Medical doctor, suitable for trainees in infectious or tropical diseases, medical microbiology/virology, immunology, gastroenterology or acute internal medicine; also suitable for trainees in any other specialty, including general practice or those on completion of core medical training.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary research environment and contribute to clinical and translational research proposals.
Duration: Fixed term for 12 months initially, with potential extension based on funding availability.
Visa: The role meets the criteria for a UK Skilled Worker visa.
