Trust Grade (ST3‑5 Equivalent) in Histopathology at Hull Royal Infirmary. Fixed Term for up to 12 months with the possibility of extension.

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will work at SpR level and join the Histopathology Team at Hull Royal Infirmary. The post holder will be competent in basic skills in Histopathology and engage in all the duties incumbent in that role. This is not an approved training position. As a Trust Grade Doctor within Histopathology applicants are expected to be experienced in all aspects of histopathology and non‑gynae cytology. The post holder will work within the relevant specialist teams and will perform or supervise dissection, microscopy and other diagnostic techniques, work up and report cases at a level appropriate for a specialty doctor working in a team with consultant colleagues, and support multidisciplinary meetings and case discussions.

Person specification

Qualifications and experience – Essential

  • Has achieved a medical qualification
  • Full registration and hold a licence to practice with the General Medical Council (GMC) or eligible for the same.
  • FRC Path Part 2
  • Good general training in histopathology

Qualifications and experience – Desirable

  • Commitment to continuing medical education and CPD.
  • Advises and participates in audits for the local programme relevant to their role

Knowledge and skills – Essential

  • Clinical training and experience, minimum three years of experience in cellular pathology.
  • Experience in the independent dissection of histopathology specimens
  • Ability to present histology and cytology findings to clinical colleagues
  • Reporting standard at ST3 level+

Knowledge and skills – Desirable

  • Understands the wider organisation and understands and values the need for efficient use of resources
