Lead Stroke Nurse – Borders

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) is seeking an experienced, clinically qualified Lead Stroke Nurse to manage and develop a remote team of registered Stroke Nurses and Health Care Assistants. The role is primarily home-based within the NHS Borders area, with occasional travel to meet the local Stroke Team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide remote support and advice to people and families affected by stroke or TIA, delivering person‑centred, self‑management‑focused care.
• Lead, manage and develop a team of registered Stroke Nurses and Health Care Assistants, ensuring they deliver confidential, independent information, advice and support.
• Implement and monitor organisational policies, performance metrics and continuous improvement initiatives to support the No Life Half Lived strategy.
• Ensure high-quality, evidence‑based service delivery across the region.

Qualifications and Experience

• Clinical qualification with registration to a UK clinical body (e.g., NMC, HCPC).
• Demonstrable management experience in a healthcare setting.
• Comprehensive knowledge of stroke care; leadership experience is desirable.

Location: The role is based in the NHS Borders area, with occasional travel within the region.
