Legal and Employment Requirements
To work in the United Kingdom, an individual must demonstrate relevant permission to work in the country, which is granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service. The post holder will need a membership or record on the PVG Scheme. If the applicant is not currently a PVG member for the required regulatory group (child and/or adult), an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before appointment can commence. Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently in place. If the post is assessed as a regulated role, the appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme.
The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner primarily within the Flow Centre, Outpatients and Associated Services, with rotation through the Emergency Department, RIE and the Same Day Emergency Service, WGH as part of an acute services redesign of the Urgent Care model. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the highest standard of care is delivered to patients across Lothian, providing expert clinical assessment and advice, specialist education and training programmes for health care professionals and other professional groups, and implementing and undertaking research activities to ensure evidence-based practice in the specialist area.
Responsibilities
- Work as an autonomous practitioner within the Flow Centre and associated services.
- Provide assessment, triage, initial management, and ongoing referral for patients in the Redesign of Urgent Care and Access to Urgent Care programmes.
- Ensure the highest standard of care is delivered to patients across Lothian.
- Provide expert professional and clinical assessment and advice.
- Deliver specialist education and training programmes for health care professionals and other professional groups.
- Implement and undertake research activities ensuring evidence-based practice in the specialist area.
Qualifications and Eligibility
- PVG Scheme membership or record for the relevant regulatory group (child and/or adult).
- Compliance with legal work permission requirements in the United Kingdom.
- Ability to comply with any updated criminal records check requirements effective from 1 April 2025.
Salary (Annex 21 – Arrangements for pay and banding of trainees)
- Up to 12 months prior to completion of training: 75 percent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate.
- More than one but less than two years prior to completion of training: 70 percent of the pay band maximum of the qualified rate.
- More than two but less than three years prior to completion of training: 65 percent of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate.
- More than three years from completion of training: 60 percent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate.
