The Role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic NMC Registered Nurse working within the Ophthalmology outpatient department. You will be expected to work as part of the Ophthalmology team, of experienced Registered Nurses and Health Care Support Workers. You will have the responsibility of assessing and supervising all care needs within the outpatient setting and will be required to work within a busy clinical area, working collaboratively with both nursing and medical teams. All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- This is a permanent part‑time post for 26.64 hours
- These hours will be worked Monday to Saturday
- You will be based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
- Please note the salary is pro rata for part‑time hours
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the assessment of patient needs and the implementation and evaluation of evidence‑based programmes of care. In delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care, you will utilise all available resources while taking into consideration each patient’s lifestyle, gender, cultural background, and individual needs. You will also ensure effective involvement and communication with patients, families, carers, and significant others throughout the care pathway.
In addition, you will be responsible for setting, implementing and evaluating standards of nursing practice within the ward/department. You will provide effective clinical leadership and management to nursing staff within your remit, supporting the delivery of safe, high‑quality care. You will also support the Manager in the monitoring and management of the ward/department budget and contribute to the effective day‑to‑day operational management of the service.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
- First level Registered Nurse
- Ability to fulfil criteria outlined in the job description
- Ophthalmology experience is desirable
