Position Summary
Stress Engineer on a 3‑year fixed‑term contract at the Rugby (Newbold Road) facility. Reports to the Mechanical Integrity Leader for UK Naval. Work on Naval Projects portfolio for UK Defence customers, requiring SC Level security clearance for UK passport holders.
Responsibilities
- Analyse components for fatigue, plastic collapse, buckling, ratcheting, rupture, natural frequency, heat transfer and shock loads.
- Assist in weld type definition and check for strength and fatigue.
- Identify design deficiencies via analysis techniques and propose improvements.
- Analyse features and components for safe lifting during build and installation.
- Analyse non‑customer equipment such as pressure test fixtures as required.
- Build FE models from CAD assemblies.
- Produce high quality technical reports and presentation material.
- Participate in design reviews, customer presentations and meetings.
Qualifications
- Honours degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related analytical discipline.
- Demonstrable experience in analysis of mechanical components.
- Experience with FEA packages, ideally ANSYS.
- Technical knowledge of rotating equipment and turbines preferred.
- Ability to obtain SC security clearance; UK passport holder required.
- Knowledge of ASME and DNV codes.
- Experience in rotordynamics an advantage.
