Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure all work is undertaken and equipment is maintained in a safe and efficient manner, following necessary standards and guidelines.
  • To ensure planned and emergency maintenance is carried out on all plant and services to suit production requirements.
  • To solve problems in a logical manner and strive towards continuous improvement within The Nairn site.
  • Take technical responsibility for the equipment performance.
  • To provide support to team members in a proactive manner in carrying out allocated work where required.
  • To identify and implement continuous improvement activities across the site to increase equipment efficiency and availability.
  • To reduce downtime through use of best-in-class practices and techniques.
  • Work closely with production to match the equipment availability with our market demand.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Performing regular inspections of equipment and systems to ensure they’re in good working condition and developing and implementing maintenance plans to prevent equipment breakdowns.
  • Emergency Maintenance: Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and other systems as needed when issues arise.
  • Compliance: Ensuring all equipment and procedures comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Documentation: Keeping accurate records of maintenance activities within the Emaint CMMS including any repairs, replacements, and inspections.
  • Training: Providing training and support to junior maintenance staff while being accountable for your own learning.
  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly evaluating and improving maintenance processes and procedures.

Key Characteristics

  • Knowledge and skills required:
  • Mechanical & Electrical Systems: Deep understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems to handle a variety of maintenance tasks; or a strong bias in either Mechanical or Electrical.
  • Hydraulics & Pneumatics: Knowing how to work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems is essential.
  • Health & Safety Regulations: Essential knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications and training required

  • Engineering Certifications: Engineering apprenticeship or relevant certifications such as City & Guilds, HNC, or equivalent in electrical, mechanical, or other engineering fields; Electrical bias preferred.
  • Previous experience required: +3 years post apprenticeship experience with Timber industry or relatable heavy industrial experience preferred.
