Position Summary
Senior Structural Geologist – Energy & Environment (International) with 6+ years of experience in structural interpretation and geomechanical modelling, working within a multidisciplinary team to support new build, operations, decommissioning, and site end‑use projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct structural analysis and fault mapping using geophysical, borehole, and field data and integrate with other datasets to support subsurface evaluations.
- Develop structural and numerical geomechanical models to assess stress regimes, fault stability, and fracture networks.
- Provide technical input on a range of projects, demonstrating flexibility across geology, geotechnics, hydrogeology, and geophysics.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to review, interpret, integrate, and model data, developing new approaches where necessary.
- Develop an understanding of client requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
- Produce concise, well‑written technical reports and present interpretations, recommendations, and results to clients.
- Supervise one to two junior staff members and lead small to medium scale projects with support from the team leader.
- Mentor junior geoscientists and contribute to technical knowledge sharing.
- Conduct data quality and uncertainty assessments.
Business Development
- Contribute to proposals and bids, identifying opportunities to expand business and strengthen client relationships.
HSE Focus
- Show strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence.
- Be willing to travel to project sites across the UK and overseas; hold a valid UK driving licence.
Experience & Qualifications
- MSc or PhD in Geology, Structural Geology, or related discipline.
- 6+ years of experience in structural interpretation and geomechanical modelling within nuclear waste, mining, oil & gas or related sectors.
- Proficiency in industry‑standard software (S&P Kingdom, Petrel, FLAC3D, Move, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of tectonics, fault systems, and fault mapping.
- Understanding of stress measurement and modelling, fracture mechanics, and related parameters.
- Good understanding of fault characterisation and ability to develop and review fault models, assess seismic sources, and integrate geological and geophysical data into hazard assessments.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage time and priorities across varied projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, tailor outputs to stakeholder requirements.
- Experience undertaking site/field works where required.
- Ability to develop critical‑thought solutions and communicate them effectively.
- Experience in site characterisation and managing uncertainty and practical constraints.
- Self‑motivated to identify and pursue career development goals.
- Strong commitment to HSE and willingness to travel and hold UK licence.
Compensation
