We are looking for a Junior Service Engineer based in the United Kingdom – Remote position, to work within the Wood Protection business.
The role includes repairing and servicing customers’ timber treatment plants and associated equipment at their premises. Responsibilities also involve collaborating with team members to complete the installation of small projects, including piping and electrical installations, mixing skid unit fabrication, and commissioning and testing of equipment. The candidate will maintain good customer relationships and ensure the proper and safe use of chemicals by operating personnel.
Essential Job Functions
- Conduct maintenance of timber treatment plants and associated equipment at customers’ premises, including completion of condition/service reports.
- Perform breakdown repair and fault diagnosis at customers’ premises.
- Commissioning and installation of new plants and upgrades to existing plants.
- Provide practical operator training to ensure safe operation of timber treatment plants and responsible use of chemicals.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant site and customer EHS standards and maintain a good knowledge of applicable standards such as HSAWA, PUWER, LOLER, pressure systems, and electrical systems.
- Travel extensively as part of a field role, driving or flying to customers’ sites across Europe (travel requirements vary year to year).
- Work nominally 37.5 hours per week, with flexible scheduling as required by the role.
Qualifications & Experience
- Educational attainment: A Level standard or HNC/OND, City & Guilds National, BTEC / NVQ Level 3.
- Preferred area of study: Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Mechanical training and knowledge in fabrication, welding, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Pipe fitting and associated knowledge.
- Knowledge of pumps (liquid ring, multistage, centrifugal, and others).
- Electrical experience including SCADA, PLC, and control panel fault diagnostics and testing of equipment.
- Effective communication skills at all levels, with strong analytical and fault‑finding abilities.
- Collaboration and adaptability to changing situations while working in workshops and at customer sites.
- Ability to learn new skills and share knowledge with others.
