Role Overview

As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all gym facilities, equipment, and building systems are maintained to the highest standards. You will play a key role in safeguarding the operational excellence and aesthetic integrity of our sites, ensuring a seamless experience for members and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facility Maintenance
    • Conduct regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and reactive repairs across multiple Central London sites.
    • Maintain gym equipment (cardio, strength, and functional fitness machines), lighting, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
    • Oversee maintenance of changing rooms, spa areas, and other member facilities.
    • Ensure all sites are consistently presented to a luxury, brand-aligned standard.
  • Compliance & Safety
    • Maintain compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Carry out risk assessments and record maintenance logs accurately.
    • Support the Facilities Manager in contractor management, safety checks, and planned maintenance schedules.
  • Operational Support
    • Respond swiftly to urgent maintenance issues to minimize downtime and disruption.
    • Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and site teams to coordinate repairs and replacements.
    • Support new site openings, refurbishments, and minor project works when required.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a similar maintenance role (preferably within hospitality, leisure, or high-end retail environments).
  • Strong practical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and general building maintenance.
  • Experience maintaining fitness equipment (Technogym, Life Fitness, or similar brands desirable).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently across multiple sites.
  • Good communication skills, professional presentation, and attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent in electrical or mechanical engineering).
  • Knowledge of building management systems (BMS) and HVAC systems.
  • Experience working in luxury or design-led environments.
