Site Ops AI & Automation Engineer to join the Developments team and drive AI innovation forward. Based at NEXT Head Office in Leicestershire.

Responsibilities

As the Site Ops AI & Automation Engineer, you will transform operations by integrating automation and AI into daily workflows. The key responsibilities include:

  • Identify and map repetitive or manual business processes across departments.
  • Design, implement, and maintain Python-based automation scripts and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to co-create solutions that improve productivity.
  • Build reusable automation frameworks that can be shared across teams.
  • Monitor and measure the impact of automation, reporting on efficiency gains and outcomes.
  • Champion AI collaboration, demonstrating how automation supports roles and strengthens performance.
  • Lead the adoption of automation and AI by upskilling colleagues and sharing knowledge.

Automated Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Develop and maintain Python scripts to validate platform functionality and performance.
  • Continuously review and enhance testing processes, leveraging AI-assisted validation.
  • Identify automation opportunities in regression testing, reporting, and operational workflows.
  • Build complex engineered prompts to aid task implementation.
  • Use AI for code completion (desirable).
  • Experience with Vertex AI and/or embeddings for data vectorisation (desirable).

Work Arrangement

Flexible working: 3 days in the office per week, available at the Leicestershire Head Office.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to design, implement and scale efficient automation scripts using Python.
  • Experience with frameworks such as Selenium or Playwright for content validation.
  • Strong analytical skills with Python, SQL and BI tools (Power BI/Tableau).
  • Hands‑on experience consuming APIs and knowledge of HTML, CSS, JS.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate technical outputs into business-focused insights.
  • Strong collaborator focused on an automation-first culture and managing multiple priorities.
  • Inquisitive mindset for emerging technologies and passion for AI‑aided systems.
  • Background in eCommerce beneficial but not essential.
