Job responsibilities
The post includes one day in the catheter lab at Barts Hospital and one day a week in the catheter lab at Great Ormond Street hospital, as well as a clinic at Barts and MDT commitments at both sites. We are looking for someone with a broad EP background, including extensive experience of AF ablation; a subspecialty interest in ACHD would be particularly advantageous and the successful candidate will also be trained and independent in paediatric catheter ablation.
Professional Qualifications
- Full registration with the GMC/eligible for registration within 6 months of CCT in Cardiology at interview date
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent
- Teaching qualification
- Higher degree e.g. PhD/MD submitted/awarded
Clinical Experience & Skills
- Fully trained in both paediatric and adult cardiac electrophysiology and cardiac device implantation
- Verifiable subspecialty skills
- Demonstration of sub-specialty interest in ACHD
Clinical Knowledge
- All aspects of paediatric and adult cardiac electrophysiology and general cardiology
- Demonstration of sub-specialty interest/expertise in ACHD
Audit, Management & IT
- Ability to undertake and direct audit with demonstrable understanding of the impact and challenges this brings
- Good IT skills, use of patient and hospital databases
- Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national level
- Evidence of innovative approaches to healthcare
- Evidence of leadership and involvement in service growth and development
- Demonstrates a commitment to the highest ethical and professional values and a belief in government-funded healthcare
Academic – Research, Teaching skills & Experience
- Evidence of extensive involvement with research (clinical, translational or basic science) and the ability to describe and discuss the impact of findings
- Track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international scientific meetings
- Knowledge of research ethics and grant applications
- First and last name authorship in publications relevant to this post
- Being a named applicant on grants
- Experience of setting up collaborative multicentre research projects
- Demonstration of a research track record relevant to the candidate’s sub-specialty interest

- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work within an MDT
