Overview

Consultant Haematologist with SI in Haemostasis and Thrombosis. Applications are welcomed for a Locum Consultant post in Clinical Haematology (General Haematology) with a sub‑specialty in Haemostasis and Thrombosis. This is a new full‑time (10 PA) role. The department has an established team of Specialist Registrars, Speciality Doctors, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists to support Consultants in delivering Haematology care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the Clinical Haematology service, including all Haematology/Oncology, general haematology, and haemostasis and thrombosis referrals for investigation, diagnosis and treatment.
  • Investigate and advise on the management of haematological problems from all other areas including ante‑natal serology.
  • Perform bone marrow biopsies for patients not under the direct care of the haematologists.
  • Support anticoagulant monitoring managed within Primary Care.
  • Participate in phase 2 and 3 international clinical trials, particularly in myeloid malignancies and myeloma.
  • Develop and pursue a personal research interest, with the opportunity to join a well‑established translational molecular laboratory.
  • Engage in clinical research and audit activities.

Person Specification

  • MRCP (UK) or equivalent / FRCPath or equivalent GMC registered.
  • Extensive experience and training in general clinical haematology.
  • Experience of involvement in clinical research and audit.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
