Role Overview

Training Designer – Onsite, Permanent, full‑time position at Raytheon UK, Lympstone, Devon. The role supports the Integrated Training Design Service to deliver blended, active learning that delivers customer delight and supports the Armed Forces.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for all training courses assigned, focusing on training transformation.
  • Advocate for training content that is active, engaging, inclusive and learner‑centric.
  • Ensure processes for review and change of training courses follow the end‑to‑end training design process, are DSAT compliant, and incorporate media enhancements and quality standards.
  • Proactively address, resolve and, if necessary, escalate challenges that could delay delivery.
  • Produce and develop high‑quality training design, e‑learning and courseware materials as required.
  • Develop and design training courseware using a variety of media and technology.
  • Contribute to overall instructional strategy, analysing and implementing changes to training programmes.
  • Identify effective and ineffective instructional design methodologies and provide recommendations.
  • Seek feedback and impact stories to enhance training courses and continuously improve the work.
  • Integrate changes from internal and external validation into all training design activities.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships with subject‑matter experts to support training transformation.
  • Identify opportunities to provide accreditation for new or amended training, and manage implications for existing accreditations.
  • Maintain continuous professional development of yourself.
  • Adhere to Health, Safety and Security standards and system requirements.
  • Perform any other duties required to support the Integrated Training Design Service.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated passion for training transformation and continuous improvement.
  • Enthusiasm to learn, collaborate, communicate and demonstrate best practice within the business, customers and wider team.
  • Attention to detail, passion for quality, ability to plan, multitask, deliver on time and work independently.
  • Flexible approach to the role and adaptability to evolving priorities.
  • Previous role within a Learning and Development environment (desirable).
  • Experience with ADDIE model and Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) (desirable).
  • Experience in training and/or instructional design (desirable).
  • Knowledge of UK Ministry of Defence procedures and policies (desirable).
  • Experience with program management tools and applications (desirable).
  • Capability to contribute to creative solutions to technical problems within a team (desirable).
