We’re now looking for a strategic and collaborative HR Business Partner to join our People team and drive the delivery of our People Plan across the business.
What You Will Do
As HR Business Partner, you’ll work closely with senior leaders to shape and deliver people strategies that support business performance, employee engagement, and organisational growth. You’ll act as a trusted advisor, balancing business needs with fairness and consistency.
- Develop and deliver the People Plan for your directorate, aligned with wider business goals.
- Provide strategic HR support to departments across the GTS Elizabeth line.
- Lead on productivity and performance improvements through people initiatives.
- Manage employee relations and industrial relations risks, maintaining strong union relationships.
- Support delivery of committed obligations and contractual requirements.
- Act as the main interface between client groups and the wider People team.
- Advise on complex ER cases including investigations, disciplinary, grievance, and absence management.
- Oversee probation processes and ensure effective support for new employees.
- Support employee engagement initiatives and staff engagement plans.
- Develop and implement HR policies and deliver training to embed them across the business.
- Design and deliver line manager training in collaboration with L&D.
- Use HR dashboards to identify trends and drive improvements.
- Represent HR in business-level projects and support ad hoc initiatives from the People Director.
- Step in during service disruption to support customer-facing colleagues as part of the step-in programme.
What We Are Looking For
We’re seeking a confident and experienced HR professional who can lead with insight, influence stakeholders, and deliver impactful people strategies. You’ll be a strong communicator and relationship-builder, with a passion for driving positive change.
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade C or above) or equivalent.
- CIPD Level 7 qualified or equivalent.
- Proven experience in a HR Business Partner role.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Experience across the full employee lifecycle.
- Skilled in developing and delivering people strategies.
- Experience designing and delivering line manager training.
- Familiarity with HR systems (ideally iTrent).
- Experience working with Trade Unions (desirable).
- Knowledge of railway terms and conditions (desirable).
- Excellent planning, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Adaptable and resilient under pressure and change.
