About the School of Natural Sciences

The School of Natural Sciences brings together a wide range of scientific disciplines, united by a shared commitment to excellence in teaching, research and the student experience. Our programmes are intellectually challenging, interdisciplinary and closely aligned with real‑world scientific and societal challenges.

Professional Services colleagues are integral to the success of the School. You will be part of a culture that values partnership working between academic and professional staff, where collaboration, trust and shared problem‑solving are central to how we operate. We are proud of our supportive, inclusive ethos and our focus on continuous improvement, innovation and high‑quality service delivery.

Working in Natural Sciences means being part of a fast‑paced, varied and rewarding environment, supporting students from diverse backgrounds and playing a tangible role in shaping their academic journey from enrolment through to graduation.

The role

As a Teaching, Learning and Student Experience Administrator within the Curriculum and Programmes team, you will provide high‑quality administrative support across programme and curriculum activity in the School. You will work closely with academic colleagues, fellow Professional Services staff and students to ensure that teaching and learning processes run smoothly, data is accurate, and students receive timely, clear and supportive guidance.

Your work will directly underpin curriculum delivery, programme quality, accreditation and regulatory compliance, helping to create a positive, coherent and well‑supported student experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the administration of curriculum and programme management activities, including quality assurance processes, unit and programme data maintenance, and preparation for curriculum and programme reviews
  • Maintain accurate student and programme records, ensuring high data quality and adherence to University regulations and planning cycles
  • Provide curriculum and programme advice to students, supporting course unit selection, registration and changes of circumstance
  • Work in close partnership with academic colleagues to support programme development, delivery and enhancement
  • Contribute to the delivery and ongoing management of student timetables, liaising with Faculty scheduling colleagues and supporting annual and in‑year changes
  • Support online and blended learning activity and associated systems where required
  • Prepare documentation, reports and papers for formal meetings, committees and reviews
  • Deliver an excellent, student‑focused service, responding professionally to a wide range of curriculum‑related enquiries
  • Actively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, equality, diversity and inclusion, placing the student experience at the centre of decision‑making

You will also work as part of a flexible, University‑wide Teaching, Learning and Student Experience service, offering opportunities to collaborate beyond the School and contribute to wider institutional priorities.

About You

  • Relevant experience in teaching and learning or student administration, ideally within higher education or a similarly complex organisation
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy, deadline‑driven environment
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in providing clear, accurate information, advice and guidance
  • A high level of attention to detail and a commitment to data quality and professionalism
  • Good digital literacy and the ability to work confidently with student record systems (or a willingness to learn)
  • A collaborative, proactive approach and a genuine commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience

Experience of working with student record systems (such as Campus Solutions) or in a customer‑facing role would be an advantage, but training and support will be provided.

Why join us?

You will be joining a School where Professional Services colleagues are recognised as key contributors to educational excellence. We offer a supportive environment, opportunities to develop your skills, and the chance to work closely with academic teams whose work has real impact locally, nationally and globally.

We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and welcome applications from all backgrounds.

What you will get in return:

  • Market leading pension scheme
  • Employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
  • Additional paid closure over the Christmas period
  • Local and national discounts at a range of major retailers

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.

Our University is positive about flexible working – you can find out more here. Hybrid working arrangements may be considered.

Please note that this role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route of the Points Based System. Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK in order to be eligible to take up the post.
