Working Hours
35 hours per week, permanent. Work pattern: Monday – Thursday 8:45 am – 4:45 pm, Friday 8:45 am – 4:15 pm.
Salary
£42,228 – £48,633.
Role Summary
You will provide specialist advice and guidance to managers, employees and their representatives on a wide range of employee relations and involvement issues. You will help ensure our policies reflect best practice, meet legislative requirements and support the Council’s values and service plans. You will also represent Personnel Services on internal and external groups, bodies or committees as required.
Your Work Will Involve
- Liaising with managers, employees, personnel colleagues and trade unions to ensure a consistent, supportive approach to employee relations issues.
- Providing expert advice on discipline, grievance, dignity at work, terms and conditions, and other personnel matters.
- Leading investigations and representing Personnel Services at hearings and meetings, producing clear, concise investigation reports with evidence-based findings, ensuring accuracy, objectivity and compliance with policy and legislation.
- Contributing to the development, implementation and review of HR policies and procedures.
- Promoting equality, inclusion and fairness in all aspects of service delivery.
Qualifications and Experience
You will have a professional HR qualification and/or relevant experience in operational HR service delivery, with strong knowledge of personnel policies, employment law and best practice. You will be a confident communicator with excellent organisational skills, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. A CIPD qualification is desirable.

- Post is excepted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Scotland Act 2020.
- An Overseas Criminal Records Check is required for applicants born outside the UK or who have lived or worked outside the UK for a continuous period of three months in the past 10 years. The check must be translated into English and include an official statement confirming no history of or pending criminal record proceedings.
