Full Time, Fixed Term for 12 months

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our fast‑paced Housing Repairs and Maintenance team as a Repairs Coordinator working on a variety of tasks.

Housing Repairs and Maintenance are responsible for the provision of quality day‑to‑day repairs and maintenance of Bristol City Council’s tenanted housing stock and the repairing and refurbishment of empty homes to bring them back to a quality lettable standard. Our aim is to carry out the right repair first time within agreed timescales and to provide safe, secure, habitable properties that our residents can be proud of.

What will I be doing?

  • Arranging repairs for Bristol City Council residents ensuring that they happen “Right First Time”.
  • Organising repairs for our empty properties so new tenants can move in.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for colleagues on‑site, providing support and dealing with any issues they may have.
  • Ensuring repairs go as planned on the day, coming up with solutions to problems to avoid delays in the work taking place.
  • Working alongside a team of Trade Specific Managers and Supervisors, as well as other departments in Housing and Landlord Services such as Rents, Lettings, Estates and the Citizen Contact Centre, to provide fantastic service ensuring repairs are delivered in a timely manner and to an excellent standard.

What do I need to have?

  • Experience in a customer service background is essential.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues across all departments.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively in a fast‑paced role.
  • Confidence with learning in‑house bespoke IT systems and a good grasp of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel & Teams).
  • Flexibility to work a 37‑hour week, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8am – 6pm.

Beneficial but not essential:

  • Some knowledge of repairs and workflow systems.
  • Some awareness of social housing issues.
  • Good understanding of Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion policies.
