Role Overview
We are looking for a creative, driven and highly organised Social Media Officer to join our growing team. This is a hands-on, end-to-end role covering everything from on-site photography and videography through to content creation, graphic design, editing and publishing across all of LAAT’s digital platforms.
The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining LAAT’s online presence, growing our audience and ensuring our brand is represented in a consistent, professional and engaging manner across all channels.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation and Production
Plan, shoot and edit high quality photos and videos across all LAAT campuses and events
Create engaging, on-brand visual content including graphics, reels, stories and promotional materials
Design digital assets using tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro or similar
Develop content that reflects LAAT’s values, culture and student life authentically
Social Media Management
Manage and grow LAAT’s presence across all social media platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook
Plan and maintain a content calendar ensuring consistent and timely posting across all channels
Write compelling captions, posts and copy tailored to each platform and audience
Monitor comments, messages and interactions, responding promptly and professionally
Grow followers, engagement and reach organically across all platforms
Website and Digital Content
Create, update and maintain content on the LAAT website
Upload news, events, blogs and promotional content in a timely manner
Ensure all website content is accurate, up to date and aligned with brand guidelines
Liaise with relevant teams to keep course and programme information current
Analytics and Reporting
Monitor and analyse performance metrics across all social media platforms and the website
Provide regular reports on reach, engagement, follower growth and campaign performance
Use data insights to continuously improve content strategy and audience engagement
Brand and Communications
Ensure all content is consistent with LAAT’s brand identity, tone of voice and visual guidelines
Support the development and implementation of social media campaigns and promotional activities
Collaborate with academic, admissions and operations teams to promote events, open days and key milestones
Stay up to date with social media trends, platform updates and best practices
Person Specification
Essential
Proven experience in social media management across LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook
Strong photography and videography skills including shooting and editing
Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator
Video editing skills using tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut or similar
Excellent written communication skills with the ability to write for different audiences and platforms
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Creative eye with a strong sense of visual aesthetics and brand consistency
Experience updating and managing website content
Desirable
Experience working in a higher education or educational setting
Knowledge of SEO and basic web management
Experience running paid social media campaigns
Familiarity with scheduling tools such as Hootsuite, Buffer or Later
Understanding of analytics platforms such as Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Analytics or Google AnalyticsRequirements• Minimum five years’ teaching experience in Higher or Further Education, including across Levels 4–6. • Experience of programme or cohort leadership, including student progress monitoring and quality reporting. • Subject expertise in Business Management with current knowledge of industry practice. • Evidence of research, knowledge exchange, or external partnership activity. • Working toward or holding Senior Fellowship of the HEA (SFHEA) or equivalent. • Strong leadership, communication, and team-working skills. • Commitment to student achievement, continuous improvement, and LAAT’s values….
