Salaried GP – St Johns Medical Centre, Altrincham
St Johns Medical Centre is located in the market town of Altrincham within the borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester.
We are a busy, forward thinking and friendly practice, looking for a caring and enthusiastic GP who is committed to providing and developing a high quality service to join our happy team, working 6 sessions per week.
Main duties of the job
- Provide a full range of medical services and additional enhanced services where appropriate.
- The post holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including F2F appointments, telephone consultations, home visits, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence.
- To record clear computer based consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early sign of illness.
- Provide counselling and health education
- Compiling and issuing computer generated acute and repeat prescriptions
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
- In general the post holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
About us
We are a partnership practice with 9 GP Partners and 5 Salaried GPs. The practice has a wide and varied clinical team including Nurses, Clinical Pharmacists, First Contact Physiotherapists, Mental Health Nurse and Social Prescribers.
We are a teaching practice and research active.
Job responsibilities
- Undertake face to face, telephone consultations and home visits.
- Assess, diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions
- Prescribe safely in line with local and national guidance
- Process clinical correspondence, results and referrals.
- Maintain accurate clinical records
- Work collaboratively with the wider practice team.
- Participate in clinical governance and mandatory training.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Fully qualified GP with GMC registration and license to practice.
- Inclusion on the NHS performers list.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as park of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to high quality patient care.
- Experience working within UK General Practice.
- Interest in quality improvement or specialist clinical areas.
