Senior Software Engineer, Web

Role Overview

We’re hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Web to build websites handling millions of requests per day, presenting high-quality market data to our members and the investing public in Cboe Europe.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, extend, and maintain web software functionality, often requiring advanced knowledge and experience.
• Create customer documentation.
• Act as project manager for a feature across multiple parties.
• Design end-to-end solutions for full stack of web applications, including front end visualisations, backend API interactions, and direct SQL database schema and query implementation.
• Implement automated unit tests and rigorously test changes prior to deployment.
• Help with production operations, ensure correct implementation in certification and production environments.
• Provide input into team sprint planning, participate in periodic team meetings, and peer code reviews.
• Participate in requirements gathering, analysis and write documentation, technical specifications and requirement materials.
• Support production systems and applications outside of normal work hours to ensure performance and high availability.
• Mentor other software engineers.
• Subject Matter Expert for one or more systems/technology.
• Prioritize/manage time across projects, deliver quality solutions on schedule.
• Communicate with management, stakeholders, and technical colleagues; represent software engineering positively.

Qualifications

• B.Sc in Computer Science, Computer/Software Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience developing high-performance, data-driven websites.
• Experience with MVC web frameworks (Django preferred).
• Experience with JavaScript and Python 3.8+.
• Familiarity with modern web standards, HTML5 and CSS3.
• Experience with Linux or UNIX-like systems; Apache and ReactJS.
• Experience with SQL Databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Python unit testing and full-stack web testing preferred.
• Strong Python and Linux knowledge; JavaScript (ExtJS, React, NextJS), HTML/CSS, and Django.
• Basic UI/UX design skills.
