Job Summary

Exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner (GP) to join the forward‑thinking and dynamic team at WellBN in Central Brighton and Hove. The role focuses on compassionate care and clinical work with patients, families, and disadvantaged communities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct surgery and telephone consultations, manage queries, and perform home visits.
  • Handle repeat prescriptions, sign them, and ensure timely correspondence.
  • Make autonomous decisions for self‑referred and referred patients, assess undiagnosed health concerns, and screen for disease risks.
  • Provide counselling, health education, and record clear consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • Admit or discharge patients, refer to other care providers, and maintain patient records and Read‑coding data.
  • Collect data for audit, comply with the practice prescribing formulary, and issue computer‑generated prescriptions.
  • Support the development and delivery of new services and care models, and participate in QOF/IIF initiatives and audits.
  • Attend training and events and contribute to the training of medical and non‑medical students and trainees.
  • Contribute actively to training and supervisory activities and provide care to neurodiverse, trans, non‑binary and intersex patients.

Person Specification

  • Qualifications
    • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
    • Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) or equivalent.
    • Evidence of commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Knowledge
    • Sound understanding of NHS policies, clinical governance, and safeguarding practices.
    • Knowledge of prescribing protocols and formulary adherence.
    • Familiarity with local health services and community resources is desirable.
  • Experience
    • Proven experience working as a GP in a primary care setting.
    • Experience managing undiagnosed clinical conditions and participating in QOF/IIF and other quality initiatives.
    • Previous experience delivering Enhanced Services or specialised clinics is desirable.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent diagnostic and clinical skills and ability to work autonomously.
    • Competent with electronic patient record systems and clinical coding.
    • Strong communication skills for counselling, education, and teamwork.
    • Demonstrated ability to contribute to service improvement.
    • Additional qualifications or special interests that complement the practice’s services are desirable.
