Responsibilities
Responsible for all site staff, visitors, and contractors, ensuring the site complies with Health and Safety legislation, company policies, food safety requirements, and environmental regulations. Maintain assets in safe operating conditions and ensure they produce the product quality and quantities required. Oversee production and engineering staff to achieve safety, production, and maintenance objectives. Accountable for the site’s financial performance.
Implement and maintain production and demand plans to meet group objectives, plan production budgets with required maintenance outages, and ensure compliance with safe working practices and risk assessments. Develop safe working practices for maintenance activities, complete necessary reports and documentation for authorities, and audit site processes to ensure company and legal standards are met.
Maintain a preventative maintenance (PPM) schedule to minimise breakdowns, monitor an overview of plant condition, manage maintenance using appropriate tools and systems, and liaise with Group Engineering for technical and project assistance. Report quality impact issues to senior management, monitor quality performance, and implement process changes to meet requirements.
Communicate and motivate staff to achieve site KPIs, provide training, development plans, and succession planning. Manage HR issues and ensure processes such as return‑to‑work interviews are conducted. Create and monitor site productivity performance, ensure accurate stock controls, timely reporting, and budget spending oversight.
Participate in regular operational and planning meetings, plan shutdowns for maintenance or projects, and communicate fully with relevant parties.
Weekend and weekly on‑call coverage.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Experience managing a site in the food manufacturing industry.
- Strong communication skills to develop working relationships.
- Experience with maintenance engineers.
- Flexible approach to working hours.
- Desirable: malting site management experience, leadership or management qualification.
