Acorns Children’s Hospice is looking for a Children’s Palliative Nurse Specialist to join the team in our Black Country Hospice, Walsall. The role involves assessment of care needs, developing and evaluating programmes of care with the multidisciplinary team and families, and providing specialist palliative care to children and young people with life‑limiting or life‑threatening conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high‑quality patient care in the hospice using specialist clinical knowledge.
  • Holistically assess the situation and needs of children with life‑limiting conditions, including family needs.
  • Work in partnership with children, families and carers to achieve optimal outcomes, recognising individual preferences and lifestyles.
  • Support the review, discussion and fulfilment of Advance Care Plans for children and families with life‑limiting/threatening conditions.
  • Promote and support effective discharge planning.
  • Participate in the on‑call rota to provide telephone clinical support, out of hours, across Acorns hospice sites and community teams.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse.
  • Non‑medical prescriber (or willingness to undertake).
  • Relevant experience in palliative care.
  • Knowledge and application of evidence‑based practice in relation to palliative care.
  • Clinical leadership skills.
  • Evidence of nursing assessment skills.

Additional Information

Interviews are scheduled to be held on 12 June. You need to be eligible to work in the UK to be considered for this role.
