Job Summary

Senior Mechanical Engineer – responsible for design, construction, commissioning and handover of water and wastewater infrastructure and non‑infrastructure projects. The role covers mechanical design from outline through to detailed design, supporting efficient, practical and safe solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design of water and wastewater and non‑infrastructure projects through outline and detailed design, construction, commissioning and handover.
  • Prepare and review P&IDs, valve schedules, pump calculations, safe access and lifting arrangements, and above‑ground pipework layouts.
  • Coordinate with the project team (Electrical, Civil, Geotech, Process designers) to ensure designs are completed on programme, within budget and to the quality defined by framework specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions across design stages and into construction.
  • Positively engage with the client, building relationships and adopting a one‑team approach to support them in achieving their aims.
  • Support the development of the mechanical engineering team – coaching and mentoring engineers to build their skill set and identifying the correct resources for projects.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Chartered or incorporated member of a professional institution (e.g., ICE, IMechE) or equivalent experience.
  • Effective communication skills with team members and stakeholders.
  • Methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the operational region.
