Role Overview
SLR is seeking a Senior Engineer with strong experience in tailings and mine waste to join our growing team in the European Region. The role involves supporting others on mine waste projects and working with in‑house technical disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver mine waste projects from concept through to final design and implementation.
- Provide direction and advice to clients on all aspects of mine waste engineering.
- Produce numerical modelling, factual and interpretive reporting, detailed designs, specifications, tender documents and bills of quantities.
- Apply industry‑standard guidance such as GISTM, ANCOLD and CDA.
- Develop project management and business skills, including client management, project execution and financial control.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to mentor and improve technical, creative, judgement and problem‑solving skills.
Qualifications
- Honours degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering or a related MSc.
- Working towards Chartered (or equivalent Professional Engineer) status.
- Strong demonstrable experience in mine waste consulting.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to plan and deliver geotechnical site investigations.
- Experience working on multidisciplinary projects.
- Knowledge of mining industry standards such as GISTM, ANCOLD and CDA.
- Experience in water management and water balance modelling.
- Experience with numerical modelling using GeoStudio or other industry‑standard software.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation and report writing abilities.
- Awareness of commercial and business development skills required within a consultancy.
