Our client is looking for a Principal Engineer (Major Projects Team Lead) to join their growing Building Services team in the North West. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the delivery of MEP design across major construction projects
  • Act as the technical lead, ensuring quality, compliance, and best practice across all designs
  • Support the Head of Service in managing team performance, utilisation, and delivery targets
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams across mechanical, electrical, and wider project functions
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, both internally and externally
  • Oversee feasibility studies, detailed design, and technical reporting
  • Drive continuous improvement and technical excellence within the team
  • Support business development activities, including bid submissions and client presentations
  • Monitor project progress, risks, and costs, ensuring successful delivery

What They’re Looking For:

  • Chartered Engineer (CIBSE or IET)
  • Degree in Mechanical Building Services or Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven experience leading multi‑disciplinary engineering teams
  • Strong background delivering large‑scale MEP projects
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders
  • Experience managing team performance, utilisation, and project delivery targets
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance and design processes
  • Ability to meet BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) requirements
