Media Studies Programme

The Media Studies programme at Bromley Schools’ Collegiate prepares you to teach students how to critically analyse media content and create their own media projects. The course covers a wide range of media forms, including film, TV, digital content, and advertising, and provides practical experience in media production.

Key Focus Areas

  • Film, TV, advertising, and digital media
  • Analyzing the influence of media on society and culture
  • Practical media production skills
  • Teaching media theory and media literacy

Mentoring and Support

You will be mentored by experienced Media Studies teachers throughout the programme, receiving feedback and guidance to help develop your teaching practice.

Bursaries & Scholarships

  • Bursary: £26,000 for eligible candidates
  • DfE Scholarships: £31,000 for high-calibre applicants

Entry Requirements

  • Qualifications: A good degree (minimum 2:2) in Media Studies, Film Studies, or a related subject. At least 50% of your degree should be in Media Studies or a related field, or a Grade B in A-Level Media Studies.
  • GCSEs: English and Maths (minimum grade C/4). Free equivalency tests are available for candidates who do not meet these qualifications.
  • Personal Qualities: A passion for media and its impact on society, as well as the ability to inspire students in creative media production.

Other Requirements

  • No prior classroom experience required, although any relevant experience with young people is beneficial.
  • Criminal record checks, health screening, and references will be required upon a successful offer.

Fees

  • QTS only: £8,000
  • QTS with PGCE: £9,200(Fees are fixed for September 2025)

Modern Languages Programme (French, Spanish or German)

The Modern Languages programme at Bromley Schools’ Collegiate prepares you to teach French, Spanish, or German. The course provides a blend of language teaching techniques, helping students develop their skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing while fostering cultural awareness.

Key Focus Areas

  • Teaching grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation
  • Developing language skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing
  • Promoting cultural understanding and global citizenship
  • Preparing students for exams in French, Spanish, or German
