Overview
We are looking for a Senior Power Electronics Application Engineer to join the Manchester Applications team. The role focuses on the development of high‑reliability power protection solutions for AI and data centre server racks in our Power MOSFET business.
Responsibilities
- Design, debug and validate hot‑swap protection and eFuse implementations for high‑density rack systems.
- Perform detailed MOSFET Safe Operating Area (SOA) characterisation and thermal validation.
- Create technical literature, demo boards and reference models for 48V power distribution systems.
- Define new product specifications based on customer inputs and market trends.
- Provide expert technical support to global sales teams and customers to resolve complex power delivery challenges.
- Build a solid understanding of next‑generation 48V power distribution architectures and partner with the data centre team for business development in the hyperscale computing market.
Requirements
- A degree or equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Physics or a related discipline.
- Passion for AI infrastructure or data centre power systems.
- Proven expertise in circuit simulation (e.g. SIMPLIS, LTspice, PSpice) and PCB design.
- The legal right and willingness to travel globally, including short‑notice travel to key technology hubs.
- Experience with 48V distribution, high‑current MOSFET switching and hot‑swap controllers is a plus.
- Advanced simulation experience (FEA, SPICE modelling, thermal analysis) is desirable.
