Senior Editor, The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology

Location: UK, China, Spain, India or Brazil.

We are looking for a Senior Editor who will oversee creation and publication of original material for our online and print journal, conduct peer review, commission authors, build global relationships, and contribute editorials.

Responsibilities

  • Managing peer review of high‑quality research papers and commissioning authors for successful production of new and engaging articles.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with global communities to attract high‑quality clinical and public/global health research for the journal.
  • Attending conferences and events to represent the journal, staying up to date with developments in diabetes and endocrinology, and identifying potential topics of interest.
  • Writing editorials and other content for the journal as required.
  • Helping develop new initiatives for further growth of the journal.

Requirements

  • A Medical Degree in a relevant discipline or a PhD in a related subject field with postdoctoral research experience.
  • Editorial experience is desirable.
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of biological and medical sciences and broader social issues pertaining to metabolic health.
  • Ability to engage, influence, and build relationships with external stakeholders, including NGOs, medical and research professionals, internal teams, and media.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to work efficiently to demanding press deadlines.
  • Excellent command of the English language and ability to write in an engaging and interesting manner.
  • Proficient with IT systems including MS Office.
