About the Role
We are looking for an Interaction Designer to join our multidisciplinary team designing innovative, user‑centred digital public services.
Key Responsibilities
- Design simple, intuitive, and accessible digital services that meet user needs and business objectives.
- Create end‑to‑end user‑centred interactions across channels.
- Participate in user research activities, using qualitative and quantitative evidence to inform design decisions and service improvements.
- Rapidly prototype and test designs using paper, digital, and code‑based prototypes.
- Produce interaction design artefacts, including sketches, user flows, scenarios, wireframes, journey maps, and prototypes.
- Facilitate workshops, co‑design sessions, and user testing to explore problems, generate ideas, and validate solutions.
- Collaborate within agile, multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective services.
- Contribute to design standards and design systems, maintaining consistency across services and interfaces.
- Support service transformation by improving the efficiency, speed, and usability of public services.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience using GOV.UK Prototype Kit, design systems, and design patterns.
- Knowledge of usability, accessibility, and inclusivity guidelines in line with WCAG and GOV.UK design guidelines.
- Experience working to the Government Service Standard and service assessment across all phases.
- Excellent verbal, written, and facilitation skills, able to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong technical literacy and understanding of high‑level technical processes.
- Ability to work within project constraints and support teams in value delivery.
- Experience coaching teams in user‑centred design and agile ways of working.
- Strong communication of design decisions, influencing stakeholders with evidence.
- Commitment to continuous learning and collaboration.
