Job Description:

Senior Veterinary Surgeon (Surgery Lead) – flexible rota, up to £65,000 (FTE, DOE).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of surgical services within the practice.
  • Mentor and support junior staff to maintain high clinical standards.
  • Drive surgical treatment plans for a varied client base including small animals, exotics and dentistry.
  • Manage a flexible schedule – predominantly weekdays with occasional Saturday mornings (max 1 in 4) and school hours.
  • Ensure all appointments finish at least half an hour before closing and cover no out‑of‑hours commitments.
  • Work alongside an experienced clinical team and contribute to practice growth.
  • Participate in quality improvement and CPD activities.
  • Adhere to the practice’s well‑being and support policies.

Qualifications

  • Senior Veterinary Surgeon (MRCVS) with a surgical bias.
  • Experience leading surgical services or a strong interest in developing them.
  • Strong mentorship and teaching skills.
  • Good organisational and time‑management abilities.
