Colposcopy & Hysteroscopy is a very busy department where we care for women who need further examination following a smear test and women who experience post-menopausal bleeding.
The department is open Monday to Friday with some Saturdays.
This will be a varied role working in both Colposcopy & Hysteroscopy within our team of clinicians, CNS, nurses & Allied Health Care Professionals.
We pride ourselves on being responsive, empathetic and flexible in continuing to develop the services offered to women.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong interest in women’s health.
You will be eager to learn and have an interest in gynaecology and women’s health.
The post holder will be a clinically based nurse who will support and strengthen the nursing contribution to patients & service users within the department.
Main duties of the job
- To deliver high quality, safe, compassionate patient-centered care that respects and maintains dignity at all times for ladies undergoing outpatient colposcopy or hysteroscopy.
- To facilitate efficient and effective care and communication between the patient and their care providers and to act as patient advocate at all times.
- To contribute to practice development within the clinical setting and work in accordance with the trust’s values, policies and guidelines.
- Complete any work based training associated with the role.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC register
Knowledge & Nature of Experience
- Recent experience of working in an Acute Secondary care setting
- Experience of working independently and in a team
- Sound understanding of professional nurses’ accountability
- Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and ongoing professional development/Competence
- Gynaecology an advantage
Professional / Managerial / Specialist Knowledge
- Demonstrate achievement of numeracy and literacy skills
- Understanding of NMC Code of Conduct
- Ability to challenge existing practice and initiate change
- Understanding principles of safeguarding
Analytical & Judgment Skills
- Demonstrate an ability to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient care
- Ability to identify your own learning needs
