Airway experienced Staff Nurses Band 5 Adult opportunities – Join St George’s Hospital.

Main duties of the job

• Caring head and neck cancer patients and supporting their families.
• Post‑surgical management of tracheostomy, laryngectomy and head and neck flap.
• End‑of‑life care and post‑chemo‑radiotherapy symptom control management and care.
• Managing the complex discharge pathway and maintaining patient flow.
• Admission, discharge and ongoing daily holistic care to H&N cancer patients with tracheostomy, laryngectomy and major flap.
• Prioritising needs and emergency management.
• Facilitating effective and safe complex H&N discharges by communicating with MDT.
• Working in collaboration with Trachy & H&N CNS.
• Leading shifts to develop leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Supervising junior team and students on placement.

Person Specification

• Registered Nurse (Adult)
• Minimum 2 years post‑registration

Airway training (Tracheostomy & Laryngectomy)

• Registered Nurse (Adult) with 2 years of airway experience
• Good leadership and experience in taking charge of the ward
