Our department has a proven track record of nationally and internationally recognised research focusing on the cause and treatment of eye disease, alongside clinical expertise in the diagnosis and treatment in all sub-specialities of Ophthalmology.

Glaucoma research, in particular, forms the main focus of this department. We are the only centre in Europe with an active aqueous dynamic lab. We are the leading recruiting centre for many landmark glaucoma studies.

The department has delivered successfully on a number of both commercial and non-commercial portfolio studies and plays a key role in driving and supporting continued recruitment within the NIHR Clinical Research Network South London.
